Factory Firewall Marking:

For the "purists" building "trailer queens",  you are looking at a Lansing factory firewall marking from a 65 442 built the 3rd week of February.  The long shot shows the location. It appears to be done with a paint stamp. This marking is sits behind and is covered by the voltage regulator. The two lower pictures show that it was applies with a stamp. You can see the definite imprint of the stamp in the number 3 at the lower right.

The top appears to be OK/N1and the lower appears to be OK/D3
I am not sure at this point what this signifies. (night 1 / day 3 ???)

Factory Cowl Marking:

Lansing factory cowl marking from a 65 442.  The long shot shows the location. It appears to be done with a paint marker stamp OK/-D-3 & OK-D-27.  These are on both sides of the cowl behind the tail end of the front fender & ahead of the doors. ( Not visible when the fender is in place )  The first 4 pictures are paint stamped from a Fremont built 442 and the second 4 are stamped with paint OK/N 10 from a Lansing built 442.
Factory Spring Tags:
More for the "purists"   This is a rear spring factory tag found by Jasen Ramsey. The number 9777517 is in the dark area of the fold.  Dimensions are
5 1/2"x 1".

To the right is a front spring with a green tag and the correct color and number  389421 RP
Front Brake Backing Plates:

It turns out that the front backing plates were "cadnium plated" the same as the brake booster. Here is an excellent example.  Note the yellow paint dob on picture 3. Jasen Ramsey

Vin Number Stampings:

In addition to the Vin plate on the front door post you will find the car's vin number stamped into the drivers side of the frame just forward of the center body mount ( on top, not visible unless the body is removed) and also into the side of the 4 speed transmission casing on some, but not all. Tailpipe Number Stampings:

I dug out the original tailpipes from my  65 442 Holiday Coupe and (to my surprise) found part numbers stamped at top dead center near the stainless tip. The right side is 390178 and the left side is 390179.  BR[]
Transmission Vin Number Stampings:

There is a VIN number stamped on the edge of some (not all)
4 speed transmissions which matches the number on the VIN plate located on the drivers side door post between the hinges.  BR[]

Correct Air Cleaner Finish:

The correct finish on the air cleaner IS NOT a shiney chrome. It is a flash chrome finish, which is more of a stainless look opposed to a show quality chrome.  BR[]
Pretty, but incorrect.
Correct flash chrome finish.
The above pictures show two different chalk marks that were located on the firewall. The picture on the right shows the actual chalk marks found above the brake booster and gas pedal linkage.
